Five-Year B.A./M.P.P. Program
The Department of Political Science and the School of Public Policy offer a combined Five-Year B.A./M.P.P. Program for high-achieving students interested in careers in public policy and public service.
This accelerated program allows students to earn both a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) in approximately five years, rather than the typical six years required to complete both degrees separately.
Students in the program complete a total of approximately 150 credits, benefiting from a streamlined curriculum that integrates undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Program Benefits
- Accelerated timeline to earn both degrees
- Reduced overall credit requirements compared to completing each degree separately
- Opportunity to begin graduate-level coursework as an undergraduate
- Preparation for careers in government, policy analysis, nonprofit leadership, and public service
Academic Pathway
Students admitted to the program work closely with advisors from both Political Science and Public Policy to design a course of study that fulfills the requirements of both degrees.
The M.P.P. curriculum provides a strong foundation in:
- Policy analysis
- Research methods and quantitative analysis
- Public management and budgeting
- Specialized policy areas such as health, education, or urban policy
