The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSIP) provides Maryland’s top college students with an immersive experience in state government, exposing them to both its challenges and benefits.
The program is designed with two primary objectives:
- To cultivate an in-depth understanding of state government operations and its role in society for the emerging leaders of tomorrow.
- To inspire some of Maryland’s most talented students to pursue careers in public service after completing their education.
Throughout the GSIP, interns collaborate on meaningful projects alongside senior public officials and policymakers in departments that align with their academic backgrounds or career aspirations. Typical responsibilities include attending meetings, drafting official correspondence, tracking legislative developments, and conducting policy research.
